Parish of Farlington - church and hall development
Axis Architecture has just achieved planning approval for The Parish of Farlington, Portsmouth. The scheme consists of an extension to the church which connects the existing church and hall. Currently the site does not comply with DDA regulations with the hall set 1330mm above the church making access around the site tricky. The new extension will provide new toilets, kitchen and meeting room facilities and incorporates a lift to aid access. The design unifies the existing buildings while creating a new space with its own character and uses.
Although the scheme received a number of objections the scheme was supported by the original officers and received a unanimous vote of approval from the planning committee members on 4th April 2007. This extension will provide an exciting new facility not just for the church but also the wider community.
