Abingdon Post Office

Axis Architecture has gained planning approval for a scheme to refurbish and extend the current post office in Abingdon and provide a separate residential block at the rear of the site.

The proposed scheme retains the structure of the existing Post Office building but replaces the shopfront glazing and provides a new staircase for access to the refurbished first floor staff facilities.

The proposed residential block to the rear of the site (facing onto the Local Authority car park) is arranged as two stories of accommodation on structural columns, allowing the ground floor to be used as resident parking, cycle parking and communal bin store. The incorporation of a roof terrace provides accessible open space for residents.
