Converting an existing Grade II listed timber yard

Work is well under way to convert an existing Grade II listed timber yard offices into a mixed-use development. Listed building approval is also being sought to provide a new second floor to no. 32 to match no. 34. A previous application for this extension had been refused however we have put forward a strong case that this second floor most likely existed in the past but was removed.

The project involves converting the existing offices that front the main road, into three number two bedroom flats. The two ground floor units will be commercial units, most likely food outlets. The rear timber yard will have a new four storey building containing seven number one and two bedroom flats with two workshop units at ground floor level.

The arched entrance from the main road will form a pedestrian access into the inner courtyard leading to the two staircases and lift access to the flats. High specification finishes, ornamentation, sculptures and lighting will create an intimate semi-private relaxed entrance area off the busy main road.

The development will create a group of high quality flats on the eastern edge of the City of London in an area which was previously a rundown light industrial and commercial sector but is rapidly becoming gentrified and a sought after residential district.

The contract is half way through the 12 month programme and the building contractor is Dave O'Keefe + Co Ltd of Colliers Wood.
