Axis Architecture News Updates May 2011
Spring is in the feet of our Clients with a steady rise in new enquiries, new commissions and further commissions from our regular clients.
We are pleased with the increase in enquiries and commissions from Clients in the Meon Valley, particularly from the farming community. We hope people will recognise, through our recent planning successes, that the practice has the knowledge and skill to win valuable planning approvals in the countryside.
The new South Downs National Park is up and running and extends well into our Meon Valley territory. Landowners are beginning to realise that the park could open up opportunities rather than threats, especially in the tourism sector with the area now under international spotlight.
The practice is delighted to have won their first planning approval granted by Winchester City Council within the South Downs National Park, with its contemporary extension to a 1930s house in Droxford.
Recent Planning Approvals
- House Extension and Alteration on Titchfield Lane, Wickham. Planning permission has been granted for several extensions to a property that will provide additional bathrooms and a bedroom. The extensions will also allow the ground floor living space to be rearraged to provide a more modern open-plan kitchen dining area that will overlook their garden.
- Planning permission has been granted for the conversion of a timber framed car port into a meeting room at Sheep Dip Barn, Bramdean.
- House Extension and Alteration, Bognor Regis. The project aims to provide an extra bedroom above an existing single storey extension, and adjust the internal arrangements to create a more up-to-date living environment. A larger garage and entrance porch will allow the building to fit more comfortably with the surrounding dwellings.
- Two storey house extension, Fareham. The extension will provide an additional bedroom and an ensuite on the first floor, and a lounge on the ground floor. A porch will also be added to the front to create a more welcoming entrance and draft lobby. The form and materials of the extension help to define it from the main building and create a hierarchy between the ground and first floors. Additional detailing such as cills and dental coursing help break up the planar surface of the walls.
- Two Storey House Extension, Droxford. A contemporary extension to a 1930s house at the top of Garrison Hill, situated just outside the Droxford Conservation Area. The project was granted permission at the Winchester Planning Committee.
- Toilet Facilities for a church in Warnford.
