The proprietor had already gained planning permission to demolish and rebuild the existing kiosk. The new building would provide a larger kitchen, more storage, an indoor seating area and a roof terrace with views out over the River Hamble. Axis became involved during the next step to take the original planning drawings and develop them into fully detailed drawings that would gain building control approval and allow the building to be constructed.
Axis was able to overcome a number of difficult planning issues on this project to allow this building to be completed in a style relevant to its nautical context. Axis also led the project through the Building Control stage, which also presented many other challenges and the project's completion has resulted in a building that will be a landmark on the Hamble-le-Rice foreshore for many years to come.
Revit Architecture, an advanced 3D modelling program, was used to ensure the correct co-ordination between all the structural elements and the services for the kitchen and seating area. The use of Revit also enabled the production of 3D images that helped the client visualise the finished scheme before it was built.
