Chris Cook is one of the founding partners of Axis Architecture that began practicing on the 1st February 1994. He has an OND in Building and a Diploma in Architecture.
Chris was elected as a Corporate Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects on the 28 March 1985, allowing him to practice as a Chartered Architect.
He has worked in different parts of the country for a number of private practices and a Local Authority Architects Department. Chris was the office manager for a practice in Worthing for three years and has also run his own practice before starting Axis Architecture with Roy and Shaun.
Chris has worked on a wide variety of building types both as project architect and as design team member. He has been involved with housing and single house designs; industrial units and warehousing; offices, shops, supermarkets and banks; schools, colleges and hospitals; leisure centres and sports halls; clubs, community halls and churches.
Chris has worked on new build projects; refurbishments; alterations and extensions; conservation areas and listed buildings and urban planning projects. Gunwharf Redevelopment and Port Solent Marina are two larger urban regeneration projects that Chris has past involvement within the Portsmouth area.
He has wide experience both as a building designer and a contracts administrator and is familiar with many of the standard forms of building contract including 'design and build'.
Chris, as well as being a designer, is also responsible for the legal, personnel and financial affairs of the Practice. Outside the Practice Chris is an active member of the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Partnership Business Initiative, who are a group of local Professionals committed to improving the social, economic and environmental well-being of the area by engaging with private, public, voluntary and community organisations to 'pump prime' local projects with legal, technical and grant application assistance. Chris is also a member of the Hampshire Constructing Excellence Club.
Chris is married with one son and in his spare time is a keen sailor, hiker and mountain biker.
