– Lord Wandsworth College
Axis Architecture was commissioned to undertake feasibility studies (and subsequently Planning Application) for possible locations for a new house to accommodate the college’s headmaster and his family. The clients brief required: 5 bedrooms; space for entertaining visitors and a guest quarters provision. It was the client’s intention that the house allow for a distinction between the family spaces and the visitor spaces while keeping these spaces fluent and multi-functional.
It was important to the client that the exterior of the house fitted into the context of the existing buildings on their site while incorporating a modern appearance.
There were a number of consultant reports to consider, in particular the ecological report as the site had a wide biodiversity. Additionally, the project required a value engineering exercise which managed to bring the projects value back into feasibility.
The college was in the process of a major master planning exercise into which the Headmasters house was to be incorporated. Axis Architecture was also commissioned to design a perimeter road as part of the masterplanning of the site. This was key to allow the free flow of traffic (particularly goods delivery lorries) while providing adequate and sensible pedestrian access through the site.
We were able to design this project using 3D software modelling a complete topography, road and create complete rendered images.
