The Old Post Office
– Wickham, Hampshire
Axis Architecture purchased the property, which was a run-down retail/shop just off the main Square.
The practice won a planning appeal to convert the whole building into an office/studio.
Axis designed, project and contract managed the whole project from start to finish, with each member of the office taking on a different responsibility.
The renovation of The Old Post Office involved the removal of internal walls, the addition of new structural steel beams, complete rewiring of the building and the installation of a bathroom and kitchen.
The new office, with its modern and functional kitchen and bathroom, has provided the staff with a pleasant working environment. The new bathroom with shower has also encouraged employees to cycle to work which in turn helps to reduce Axis’ environmental impact. The increased size of the office compared to the previous rented accommodation mean that Axis can work more efficiently and cater better to their clients’ needs. The location of the office, just off Wickham Square, provides Axis with a more visible street presence and connection with the local community.
