Axis Architecture since 1994

Portsmouth Dental Academy

– Portsmouth University, Hampshire

Axis Architecture was pleased to work with Miller Hughes Associates to complete the working drawing package for this new building at Portsmouth University.

Miller Hughes Associates produced the original planning and tender drawings, and Axis worked closely with their technical team to deliver the working drawings and help the project run smoothly.

Autodesk Revit was a key factor in the success of the project. The first step in our involvement was to take the structural engineer’s 2D drawings and convert them into an accurate 3D model. This enabled the rest of the building components to be ‘wrapped’ around the structure in order to identify clashes before the building was built. Early detection of clashes between structural elements, walls and services meant that problems were solved before the issue arose on site.

The project had already started on site when Axis became involved in the project, which meant drawings had to be issued quickly and accurately to minimise delays. The experience of the team combined with the use of the Autodesk Revit software enabled Axis to achieve this.
