Woodland Dwelling

– Whiteley

Axis was commissioned to investigate a feasible and sensitive infill proposal for one of the last remaining pockets of woodland within the Whiteley development. We underwent a number of sketch designs and investigations to aid bringing the maximum outcome for the client in keeping with the planner’s desires and a sensitive environmental approach with minimal impact on the woodland ecology.

The design theory behind this 2 bedroom dwelling aimed to compliment the surrounding woodland by appearing unobtrusive, promote sustainable credentials and maintain the function of the woodland as a buffer between the Business Park and residential area. The proposal boasted high insulation with a timber construction and cladding in keeping with the surroundings. There were only 2 Category C trees proposed to be removed.
